                                      • Pinch collars that are too heavy or too thin for the intended dog

The Pinch or Prong collar is excellent for dogs that pull or have a dominate nature. Developed by a Veterinarian, it is actually 3 collars in 1. The primary function of the Pinch collar is to simulate the Mother dog, or a dominate dog taking control.
(When a dog controls another dog, he put his mouth on the other dog's neck. Dogs instinctively recognize what this means.)

Because the Pinch collar is designed to be a temporary training tool, collars purchased through us will be bought back for the full purchase price when no longer needed. JCM's only carries the Herm Sprenger brand.
These collars come in a variety of sizes.

The natural instincts of how dogs control other dogs. The Golden Retriever puppy controlling the Jack Russell.

The Choke Chain is for dogs that need lite control. The choke is also used as a transition collar from the Pinch collar. The Choke chain should never used on a strong, powerful dog because, if the dog pulls hard enough, it could damage the windpipe.

A properly fitted Choke chain should be snug over the largest part of the dog's head.
Sizes 26 and 28: $12.00
Sizes 22 and 24: $10.00
Sizes 18 and 20:
$8.00
Sizes 14 and 16: $6.00
Sizes 10 and 12: $5.00

**Aggressive dogs will be required to wear a Muzzle when starting Group Classes, or Private Lessons. If the dog shows aggression once training begins, a Muzzle would be required before the dog could continue in the program.

Below is the type of Muzzle we recommend. Once the dog no longer needs the Muzzle, JCM's will purchase it from the owner for the original purchase price.

Wire Basket Muzzle

Wire Basket Muzzle

Item # EI-P

Wire Basket Dog Muzzles are used by the Humane Society, Professional Dog Trainers and Dog trainers. As a training tool wire muzzle discourage dogs from biting, eating unwanted objects or to heal from oral procedures.

How to measure your dog for this muzzle:

Length - measure your dog from the eyes to the tip of his nose.

Circumference - measure just below the dogs eyes at the widest part, go all the way around the snout. Measure your dog approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch below eyes.

Note: for circumference measurements only, add in 1/2" to 1" inches

Muzzle Sizes

BREED LENGTH CIRCUMFERENCE CODE
Medium Dogs 3 ½ 10 ¼ EI-3
  4 12 EI-4
Doberman 4 ¾ 10 ½ EI-1/1
  5 11 EI-1/2
Boxer 3 ¼ 12 ½ EI-3/1
  3 ½ 13 ¾ EI-3/2
Rottweiler 4 ¼ 14 EI-2/1

This is why we don't use harnesses and buckle collars to train dogs. These devices were not designed to train dogs.
Quite the opposite.
• Harnesses are designed to teach dogs to pull.
• Buckle collars will not stop a dog from pulling. It will only damage the dog's windpipe.

NOTE:
We start most dogs off with the pinch collar.
If anyone ever watched a Mama dog correct her puppy, they would see her put her teeth on the puppy's neck. The pinch collar is a great training tool that mimics what the Mother dog or a dominate dog does to influence another dog. If you are going to train, then train from the dog's perspective. Once rules, boundaries, and respect are established, the collar is no longer needed. Treat training makes the command optional. Also, I have never seen a dog give another dog a treat to do something. 99% of the people that come to our classes have tried Positive Reinforcement first. Jcm's Dog Training.
