Natural Dogmanship

JCM’s Dog Training program is based on the philosophy of Natural Dogmanship.

Natural Dogmanship is the art of learning how dogs naturally behave amongst one another. It also means knowing how to communicate with dogs in their own language, and work with their natural instincts.
It takes a special person to fully understand and apply this concept. One has to put aside their human emotions and put the needs of the animal first. Many people work on trying to get their dog to understand them. They communicate on a human level towards the dog. Dogs are less complicated than people. What means one thing to a person, may mean the total opposite to the dog. That’s why it is difficult and sometimes impossible to make the dog understand us. Therefore, it's vital for owners to learn the language of their dog.

Because dogs are so closely bonded with the human species, it is easy to forget, or never even think about their natural instincts. Some even take it as far as seeing those who do “speak dog," as cruel.

Dogs have a natural instinct to want structure, and to know where they stand in their pack. They also need consistency. Those who believe it is cruel to use Natural Dogmanship, need to understand that it is more cruel to assume the dog is human.

All dog behavior issues stem from humans who are not practicing Natural Dogmanship. This ranges from lack of adequate exercise, to overlooking the leadership they all crave. Dogs constantly receive mix signals from their owners.

A dog's unwanted behavior is a direct result of the owner’s inability to understand the instinctual needs of the canine animal.
