Jean, I wanted to thank you for the training course. Initially, I wanted to get Gracie to stop lunging and barking at people coming into my house, and in public. You provided the claiming exercise on the first night and I used it at home and it worked. I am now also able to take Gracie to populated public areas with confidence. Everything you taught was wonderful, and I will continue to work with her. Again, thank you for a wonderful class and helping me fix our issues!

I'm the person you just helped over the phone with the barking problem. Thanks so much, you're amazing. I'm going to recommend you to my vet, Dr. Sumner at Carrollton Veterinary Hospital, and will tell everyone I know to sign up for your classes.

Dear Miss Jean,
I am so grateful to you for this class. This experience had been truly life changing only three weeks into instruction. I’ve been crying tears of joy. What you’ve taught us is invaluable. Jacques is calmer around the house since we’ve begun your class.
I really was afraid we wouldn’t see much success and I’m so happy to be proven wrong. It feels like a new lease on life. I know I might sound silly, but I just wanted to thank you for teaching me these tools. I want to keep learning more & more.

Dear Jean, My name is Lindsey and I have a great dog named Shortbread who we adopted from the SPCA in January of 2012. We were told Shortbread was being mistreated. In the last 4+ years we've done training with the following, none of which helped:
SPCA basic training class (he graduated) in 2012 Elizabeth Schomberg a few training sessions at home in 2012 Dr. Martin with Veterinary Behavior Consultants (online and telephone consult) in 2013 Gallivan Burwell 3-4 private sessions at home in 2014 His veterinarian is Dr. Biondolillo at Prytania Vet then put him on Clomicalm and Amitriptyline.
I wanted to let you know that after I took your 1day group seminar class back in 2017 it was great! You showed me how to fix all of the problems in one session that the other trainers couldn’t fix in weeks.
I just wanted to let you know that Shortbread is still friendly with everyone, and, to this day, still has no behavioral issues of any kind. What you do really works, and I tell EVERYBODY.

Jean and JCM’S is the best Board & Train I could ever recommend. My German Shepherd Koda stayed with her for 4 month training along with Service Dog Training. My dog was 8 months old when she started and Jean has done wonders with her. I am in training myself now.
Jean is exactly what I wanted, good Old School Training, without treats, clickers or shock collars. Jean is extremely hands on. I can take my dog to any of her other classes with No Extra Charge, so I can learn more. When my Koda sees Jean at classes, Koda gets excited and very happy to see Jean. I can tell how much she cares about the dogs she trains. In her weekly classes she teaches the owner’s so very much. If your doing things wrong, she will call you out on it. She truly wants you to learn the correct way to train your dog.
Her facilities are extremely well kept; very clean, comfortable and plenty of room for the dogs to play outside. She only keeps a few dogs there, so you realize the individual time she has for each dog. When I go on vacation I will definitely use JCM’S Boarding, as I have visited other dog boarding places where they cram as many dogs into a small play area as possible. The other places were a nightmare and they don’t do what they say they do, cameras or not.
I did my research diligently and Jean was the Best, hands down. I had never before met Jean. I was worried about my dogs hips and she put me on a 3-way call with my veterinarian to go over before letting me spend my money on the training. I will always be grateful what Jean has done for my dog and I look forward to learning more from her. Jean is a wonderful lady and she truly cares for all the dogs she trains and boards.
We opted to Board and Train our big boy, Great Dane mix, Ozone. We chose JCM's Dog Training School because they were recommended to us. After researching we saw that they have been training dogs for a long time, including dogs for the movies. Also, their kennel was beautiful, and we liked the fact that they live right there on the property. Finally, the demonstration of their trained dog sealed the deal. After the initial training we received extensive private in-home follow ups so we could learn what to do. We also attended several group sessions, (all included). Needless to say, our dog was wonderful, and wonderfully trained. If you want your dog trained and don't have a lot of time, Boarding and Training is the way to go. If you want a beautifully trained, well mannered dog, JCM's is absolutely the way to go.
6-18-2015 Hey Jean : -Surprise, Surprise , Roxy had a good training session this morning. She did the heel, sit and stay with no problem. She's getting the hang of down but isn't sure about the emergency down we did last Monday. This picture is of her staying while Ken walked down the long hallway. I never thought it possible. We'll see you next Monday.
We had our German Shepherd, Stella, trained as a service dog for our daughter. She was a WILD 6 month old puppy when we dropped her off to Jean Manino. After almost 4 months, we picked her up a week ago. My daughter and I trained with Stella and Jean for 2 days. We went to a couple of restaurants and shopping. I was AMAZED with Stella! She did not even seem like the same dog! We have had her home for a week now. We have brought her in several different settings. There were a ...few times she needed correction...just because of our learning not to give mixed signals. We have called Jean on the phone and gotten immediate assistance on corrections. Our youngest daughter wants to be a marine mammal trainer. We went to a nearby research center where they train dolphins, seal lions and exotic birds yesterday. Stella was phenomenal! The trainers were a bit worried about the way the mammals would react to Stella, so they kept a close eye...and Stella's behavior was unsurpassed! I heard nothing but praises on the fact that Stella is only 11 months old and that she was so well trained!! These praises were coming from the facility director and the lead mammal trainers!! I HIGHLY recommend Jean Manino, JCM Dog Training, for ALL training needs!!!
I recently completed the 8 week training course with JCM’s with my Rhodesian Ridgeback and my wife’s Jack Russell. We were promised at the beginning of the course that we would achieve off leash with our dogs...... This trainer really knew her craft..... I feel we got so much more than our money’s worth.
We were both extremely pleased and satisfied with the service offered through JCM’s. Our dogs are now very well trained and obedient, both on and off leash…. and that's saying a lot.
If you honestly want your dog trained, please don’t go anywhere else.

Hello Jean I am hoping you can tell me your next available time to accept a 40lb, 1yr old, female spayed Golden Retriever mix rescue into your Board & Train. Years ago you boarded and trained my doberman, and she lived out her thirteen years as the best dog I've ever known, and from this experience I am familiar with your process and what to expect. I am a senior LSU vet student and time really a challenge during this year, but hope to attend what I can in her follow-up sessions, possibly Covington location would be best coming from Baton Rouge. Although she is sweet tempered and housebroken, the sooner she can begin training the better for us both, so I look forward to your reply about date, Thank you very much, Carolyn
Darlene 07/28/2012 My dog and I just graduated fr..... My dog and I just graduated from JCM's Dog Training School. I was blown away by how fast my dog learned. I did everything the trainer told me, and I got amazing results. I feel I now have the best dog in the world. 2 thumbs up to JCM's. I recommend them to everybody who owns a dog.

I recently completed the 8 week training course with JCM’s with my Rhodesian Ridgeback and my wife’s Jack Russell. We were promised at the beginning of the course that we would achieve off leash with our dogs. I have to say, I was skeptical at first. We had originally gone to Pet Smart where we learned from a pimpled face trainer who claimed, “he knew everything about dogs.” He was also the cashier. I’m here to tell you he didn’t know squat. Neither did their head trainer and “mentor.” I also didn’t like the store’s passive disinterest when we complained that we were not getting what we were promised. Pet Smart promised us that our dogs would be well trained and obedient also, but all we got were disobedient food mongers. JCM’s was a totally different experience. This trainer really knew her craft. Not only were we shown step by step how to achieve our end goal, but we were also told why things needed to be done in a certain way. I feel we got so much more than our money’s worth.
February 20, 2011 Hello jean,
I called you yesterday evening about my dog trying to bark and bite me. The tips which you gave yesterday really worked. I am very pleased with it – Thank you so much.
I am retired, but my wife still works. We decided to get a dog so I would have company during the day. Lets face it, I'm not a spring rooster anymore, and the dog was becoming a handful.
I wanted someone to train the dog for me. I didn't know if that was even possible until I came across JCM's Dog Training website. I inquired about them taking the dog and training him for me. The trainer said the program was called Board and Train.
We went to the training facility. It was very nice. The trainer was a very knowledgeable lady. She showed me with one of her personal dogs what my dog would be learning. He was super well trained.
It broke my heart, but I sent my dog away for 2 whole months. I have to say, it was worth it. He has house manners now, and listens to everything I tell him.
I was instructed to work with him everyday, but I don't, and you know he still listens. I am very pleased with the Boarding and Training program conducted by JCM's.
I highly recommend it to anyone who can't get out and train their dog from scratch.
JCM's dog school is the only dog training school that GUARANTEES RESULTS. The training program is well thought out, and professionally taught by a knowledgeable, experienced 30 year veteran trainer that still competes on the highest level in Obedience Competition. She also trains dogs for the hearing impaired, Assistance dogs, and Therapy dogs. Jean of JCM's uses no gimmicks, no bribery, and no abuse. She really knows dog behavior and relates on their level. Watching Jean work with dogs is like watching a ballet. Pure, fluid, and remarkable. You can see the communication. She tells us what the dog is going to do before he does it, like a mind reader. AMAZING, and AMAZING TO WATCH! She can get any dog to come without a leash, or food in less than 5 minutes using dog psychology. All the dogs in basic class are working off leash in the 5th week of the 8 week course. Nobody else does that. All these other trainers that seem to spring up out of the woodwork with their silly little clickers and treats, pale in comparison to one of the truly great dog trainers of all time. My dog is now a licensed Therapy Dog thanks to Jean. Highly recommend. 5 Stars.
I happened upon the ugly review for JCM's Pet Boarding while wanting to post my own review. I recently boarded my boxer there. When I picked up my dog he was calm and didn't even want to leave. My dog's behavior told me how he was treated. When I've picked him up from other boarding places, he would go crazy. After researching the "ugly" writer, I discovered that the person is a boarding kennel competitor in the area. I know JCM's was on the Southshore for 30 years prior to Katrina. She evacuated with, and saved, all of the boarding dogs for the hurricane. The newly acquired property in Covington does need landscaping, but it is clean and well managed. This is just a case of a business that feels threatened by the "new kid on the NorthShore block" with a better run business. JCM's truly cares about the pets that board with them. I will continue to use them. If you don't believe me, just call the Vets. They all recommend JCM's.
Jean is an amazing trainer - I was referred to her by several people whose dogs now do visits to Children's Hospital and to various elder care facilities. Their beautifully trained dogs - and the handlers - learned the best FROM the best...Jean of JCM.
She also takes tremendous care of dogs she boards. Her new property is under construction, so DON'T let that alarm you. Our dog was a rescue, new to the family...and he had just nearly eaten a friend's Boston Terrier! We were FLIPPED OUT over what to do.
We informed her of all this before we left town, so she could keep "Cujo" away from other animals. She called long distance w/a doggie report, even took gobs of photos of my dog happily playing with other dogs! Though we didn't ask for it, she did a free personality assessment - fully knowing the dog was signed up with another trainer.
We promptly switched trainers, and after she taught we HUMANS what to do, Cujo is now a beautifully mannered, happy, non-critter-eating sweetie. Jean - you are amazing!

I went to JCM's Dog Training School. Jean is the best trainer out there. I had gone to PetSmart and I can tell you they don't have a clue. She said that she guarantees results. I was skeptical, but everything on her website is true. She is a true professional and she has a genuine gift. She is the Dog Whisperer. I can take my dog anywhere now without a leash. In fact, I went back to PetSmart after Jean trained my dog and they offered me a job as one of their certified trainers. I told them that they didn't know the first thing about training and that they were just using their big bucks and their fancy store front to bait people in. If you want your dog trained by a real dog trainer, go to JCM's.

Jean at JCM's Dog Training School teaches Obedience, but she also has a pet boarding facility. She really cares about the pets she boards. She treats them with kindness and provides unsurpassed care. She not only loves animals, but she also knows how to properly care for them. She lives on the property and lets the dogs out every few hours. They always have fresh, clean food, water, and bedding. She took 50 boarding dogs with her when she evacuated from the hurricane. That's more than most places did. She saved all those animals. I commend her for that. After the hurricane she moved from St. Bernard Parish to Covington Louisiana. I now have to drive over an hour to board my dog with her, but it's worth it. I would not go anywhere else. She is AWESOME. I recommend her to everyone.

I read a review from a person calling herself Jessica. She didn't much care for the training she got from JCM's. Well this is all I have to say on the matter.... I did an in home Consultation with Jean, and then attended the 8 week basic course. Jean is an excellent trainer and really knows her stuff. However, there are those out there that think dogs are just little, furry people. They think the trainer's job is to magically talk to the dog and explain to him the errors of his ways. They and don't understand the concept of professional dog training. What the ill informed owner perceives as the dog showing fear, is in actuality the dog understanding and respecting the wishes of the dominant "pack leader." There are trainers that use play time, food, gimmicks, and humanize the dog to satisfy the emotional needs of people like Jessica. The dog won't be trained in the end, and will probably pick up additional bad habits along the way. Jessica unfortunately picked a professional trainer to help her with her needs instead of one of the many "fluff" trainers.

If you really want your dog trained, go to JCM's. The dogs are taught in the way that dogs naturally learn. If you are looking for "play time" with your dog, don't go there. This is a serious dog training course for people who want their dog trained. If you truly want your dog trained go to JCM's, because they don't come any better.

Jean from JCM's Dog Training is an excellent trainer. She understands dogs and trains owners from the dog's point of view. I liked the course because I wanted to enjoy my dog. That means having my dog listen in every situation, no matter where we are. Even if he's off leash.

I know my boxer, Avery, only had her first class Thursday night, but I just had to write to say WOW what a difference!! We just got back from a walk and it was the most enjoyable I think both of us have had, no more pulling!!! We were able to walk longer because she wasn't constantly choking herself. Just wanted to say thanks!!!
